* CTS Canadian Career College - Fastest Typist in Sudbury Contest
Sudbury, August 30, 2010 --- CTS Canadian Career College is pleased to announce the winner of “The Fastest Typist in Sudbury” contest.
The college held qualifications at the centre court of the New Sudbury Shopping Centre last week and attracted over 100 participants.
On Saturday, August 28 nine finalists vied for the coveted title with Tyrone Lockhart emerging victorious with a top speed of 88 words per minute!
Tyrone’s reward for this feat was $250 cash and a $500 bursary toward a diploma program at CTS Canadian Career College. Our runner up was Mark Grayson who received a $50 gift certificate for his valiant efforts.
“Typing is a critical part of almost every job, says Brad Newman, communication specialist at the college, obviously it is a big part of some administration careers but also policing, computer networking and health fields… they all have to complete reports! The faster they can complete that task of their job, the faster they can get back to the primary function of their career.
We wanted to see just how fast people are typing these days. We even dug out an old Underwood manual typewriter for people to try!”
The contest was so successful they may hold it in the North Bay and Barrie where CTS also has campuses. “Maybe we could crown the fastest … in THE NORTH!”

*Congratulations Garden River Graduates and thank you stakeholders

Congratulations to the first graduating class of our Garden River campus!
The staff, students and faculty would like to extend our appreciation of your contribution to the success of the first Paramedic program at CTS Canadian Career College Garden River Campus.
It is not often we are given an opportunity to make such a profound impact on someone’s future but this education, in particularly one that contributes to saving lives, will not only help the graduate but also their community.
We understand there may already be more than five graduates who have secured work in their field. Congratulations!
This is a testament to the cooperation and partnership between the participating First Nations Communities, Garden River, the Indian Friendship Centre in Sault Ste. Marie, Employment Connection and Fire Chief, Steve Nolan. This couldn’t have happened without your contribution. Thank you.

*Law Society of Upper Canada approves CTS Canadian Career College Paralegal diploma program

CTS Canadian Career College is pleased to announce its Paralegal Diploma Program has been accredited by the Law Society of Upper Canada.

Ontario is the first Canadian jurisdiction to regulate paralegals to benefit consumers of legal services and to recognize the contributions paralegals make to the justice system. “This regulation will protect the public and support our graduates,” says Carlos Carvalho, President of the college, “Accreditation insures standards of excellence for a program’s curriculum, faculty and the facilities. It is also another testimonial of the competency of our graduates!”

“We at CTS Canadian Career College strive to compliment our graduates’ diploma with recognition from industry through certifications, accreditations and regulation.” says Brad Newman Educational Consultant for CTS. “The advice contributed from industry became the cornerstone in the development of our programs. Accreditation has become a continuation of our relationship with industry, and ensures we offer our students current, relevant and comprehensive curriculum.”

With regulation, licensed paralegals are now held to the same high standard of professional conduct as lawyers and must pass a licensing examination, and carry liability insurance. They are now providing a range of important legal services within a recognized, regulated profession.

This career is fast-paced and rewarding. Paralegals are skilled in offering advice, preparation and representation to clients in small claims and provincial offences court. They deal with minor criminal offences, as well as appearing before most tribunals. The Canada and Ontario Job Futures sites list the Paralegal’s job prospects as “good”, the highest rating. Graduates may find opportunities in law firms, government offices and corporate legal departments or chose to become self-employed.
