Job Summary

The primary care paramedic theory instructors are expected to plan, organize, and teach in a manner that aligns with the values of CTS Canadian Career College. The successful candidate will use a variety of teaching strategies to meet and support the learning needs of our students as well as incorporating a variety of creative tools and teaching practices to enhance student involvement.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Co operate with CTS Canadian Career College in developing and implementing written course outlines consistent with the requirements of CTS Canadian Career College;
  • Plan daily classroom activities that are consistent with course outlines;
  • Incorporate various techniques in implementing the course outlines;
  • Have a sound knowledge of the courses in which instruction is being given;
  • Demonstrate an ability to ascertain the learning needs of the Instructor’s students and develop appropriate activities to properly instruct the students;
  • Organize and effectively use classroom time;
  • Use the appropriate level and form of language so as to effectively communicate with the student;
  • Use instruction techniques/methods that recognize and take into account needs and learning capacities of students;
  • Be able to modify techniques during instruction in response to the needs of the students;
  • Assist students in developing efficient learning skills and work habits;
  • Be able to implement course outlines and, in consultation with the acting Campus Director and/or Director of Paramedicine, to modify course outlines in light of the needs of the students;
  • Establish, in the classroom, an appropriate atmosphere which is conducive to learning;
  • Maintain fair, firm and consistent discipline with the students;
  • Regularly monitor student progress and adjust courses accordingly;
  • Maintain accurate records as required.
  • Inform students, beforehand, of the basis upon which their performance will be evaluated;
  • Base the evaluation of students on the guidelines established by CTS Canadian Career College;
  • Ensure that the evaluation of students is appropriate;
  • Regularly check the completeness and quality of the students’ work;
  • Keep accurate and complete records of student performance;
  • Prepare final examinations in accordance with guidelines established on the course outline. Such examinations become the property of CTS Canadian Career College
  • Communicate on an appropriate basis with students, co workers, the Campus Director, the Director of Paramedicine and community members;
  • Communicate clearly and precisely;
  • Report student progress to the Campus Director and/or Director of Paramedicine, in an effective and acceptable manner;
  • Respond promptly to inquiries from the Campus Director and Director of Paramedicine;
  • Communicate with the students, the Campus Director, co workers, and the Director of Paramedicine, in a professional, constructive and accurate manner;
  • Use discretion and consideration in speaking of the campus, CTS Canadian Career College, co workers, and the students, both on campus and off;
  • Work with staff in a co operative and productive manner;
  • Use appropriate channels in problem solving;
  • Set an appropriate example for students, in grooming and deportment;
  • Support, and contribute to, the development of the campus and CTS Canadian Career College
  • From time to time there may be other duties assigned by CTS Canadian Career College. For example, instructors are expected to assist with, and participate in Graduation Ceremonies and student functions.

Qualifications

Education

Successful candidate must have graduated from a Primary Care Paramedic Diploma program and currently hold a valid Advanced Emergency Medical Care Assistant Certificate.

Experience

Successful candidate must have experience working as a Primary Care Paramedic and maintained their paramedic skill set. Candidates with greater experience in the field are preferred.

  2. Work environment: Adobe Connect – Online, remote delivery
  3. Hours of work: Permanent, casual role
  4. Schedule of work: Within 10:00 am – 3:00 pm, casual basis

 

Compensation

The successful candidate can expect a wage between $28 – $30 per hour.
