Working with people of all ages in a number of diverse environments, these skilled professionals provide a range of assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families within their community.

CTS Canadian Career College’s 52-week Developmental Support Worker program provides students with the skills and experience to perform this important role. Topics covered in the course include:

  • Pharmacology and Assisting with Medications
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention – CPI
  • Developmental Disabilities
  • Examining Autism and FASD
  • Communication Strategies for the DSW
  • Health and Wellness in Developmental Service Work
  • Interprofessional Collaboration for Health Providers

You will also gain 250 hours of valuable on-the-job experience through separate community and facility placements, allowing you bolster your resume while learning to apply your skills in real-world situations.

Graduates of this program can find work in a wide range of social service settings, such as community agencies, seniors’ centres, hospitals, non-profit organizations, outreach homes, educational environments, recreational centres, and in respite care settings, among other places.
