Pharmacy Technician
Pharmacy technicians have a more important role and better employment prospects than ever before. As pharmacists increasingly focus on providing direct patient care, pharmacy technicians are assuming greater responsibility for dispensing prescription medications and advising on their proper use, as well as numerous administrative tasks to ensure that both hospital and community pharmacy operations run smoothly.
Students benefit from extensive hands-on training in simulated lab environments in addition to acquiring a foundation in pharmaceutical and medical terminology, calculations for prescribing and dispensing medications, and the necessary computer skills. The Pharmacy Technician program at our North Bay campus is 16 months long and includes 360 hours of on-the-job placement split between a community environment and hospital setting to prepare for launching your career.
CTS Canadian Career College is fully accredited by the Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs and the curriculum has been established according to the highest industry standards, providing the theoretical and practical skills required to become a Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT). Graduates are eligible to complete Structured Practical Training, the Ontario College of Pharmacists Jurisprudence exam, and the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada qualifying exam for pharmacy technicians.
